Graduate/Postdoc

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, or Muscle Biology

A postdoctoral position is available to study elastic mechanisms in muscle function in the laboratory of Thomas Roberts. The project uses animal models, isolated muscle measurements, and modeling to study how elastic structures influence muscle function. Candidates with a background in biomechanics, bioengineering, or muscle biology are encouraged to apply. Desirable experience includes isolated muscle mechanical measurements, materials testing, and/or in silico or physical modeling of mechanical phenomena.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Extragalactic Astronomy- #25369

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr. Marc Rafelski on observational studies of high redshift galaxies and their gas reservoirs. The research will involve scientific analysis and publication, data reduction, and proposals for new observations with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), and large ground-based facilities.

Astrophysical Transients Postdoctoral Researcher- #24736

The Space Telescope Science Institute invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position to work with Dr. Andrew Fruchter on astrophysical transients. In this position, you will contribute to a new, large Hubble Space Telescope program to study electromagnetic signals from gravitational mergers as well as programs using HST and the Chandra X-ray observatory to investigate the energetics and astrophysical origins of gamma-ray bursts.

Hellman Science and Technology Fellowship

As part of the Academy's Initiative for Science, Engineering, and Technology, the Hellman Fellowship in Science and Technology Policy provides an opportunity for an early-career professional with training in science or engineering to learn about a career in public policy and administration. While in residence, Hellman Fellows work with senior scientists and policy experts on critical national and international policy issues related to science, engineering, and technology.
