Faculty Position in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

The Sibley School of Mechnical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the general area of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). The department particularly welcomes applications from outstanding innovators working on the design of novel CPS, including, but not limited to, new mechanisms, actuators, and/or sensors, control and verification of CPS, autonomy, and other related areas. Applicants should be interested in building a research program in an area of relevance to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering including, but not limited to, agriculture, sustainability and energy, space, robotics, health and personalized medicine, and manufacturing. Candidates whose research aligns with the College of Engineering strategic directions or with the strategic discipline areas outlined in Cornell’s radical collaborations initiative are especially encouraged to apply; however, excellent candidates engaged in other aspects of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will also be considered.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in a relevant field by the employment start and are expected to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program as well as to contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate instruction in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. While applications at the level of Assistant Professor are strongly encouraged, applications at all levels will be considered. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
