Position Summary:

The Department of Integrative Biology at the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa celebrates diversity and inclusive excellence among our faculty. We seek a Plant Biologist to fill a 9-month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position, with an appointment start date of August 7, 2025. Salary is negotiable.

Research may be field-based, lab-based, computational or theoretical and may range from the molecular to ecosystem scale. This includes but is not limited to plant communities, populations or individual species, as well as interactions between plants and any other organism. USF is located near diverse ecosystems both natural and impacted by human activities, in both tropical and subtropical climate zones, including mangroves, coastal, estuarine, hardwood forest, pine forest, urban forest and wetland communities; our location thus provides varied opportunities to study plant biology. Opportunities for collaboration include multiple faculty members in the department with expertise in plant biology across multiple campuses. Many of our faculty take advantage of resources such as the ECORE System (Forest Preserve, Botanical Garden, and Geo Park), the USF herbarium, environmental chambers, USF Genomics Program Sequencing Core and CIRCE Research Cluster. Candidates are expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program and to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Biological Sciences, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology or a related field from an accredited institution, publication in refereed scientific journals, and experience teaching undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Postdoctoral training in a relevant field, procurement of research funding, and demonstration of success with teaching and working with a diverse population of students.
